In the age of gadgets, how to combat stress and anxiety?

     Did you know too much screen time can lead to obesity, sleep problems, chronic neck and back problems, depression, and anxiety??? Why is this a serious issue now?

According to a study’s evidence, chronic sensory stimulation via excessive exposure to screen time may affect brain development in negative ways. The risk of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional disorders in adolescents and young adults, as well as the risk of dementia in later life, may increase with excessive smartphone use.

Predictably, Generation Z (born after1996) spend the most time on their phones, averaging about 8 hours per day. Why is this a serious issue now? Studies found that excessive screen time has largely increased the stress and anxiety levels in the youth. In what ways is excessive screen time harming Gen Z?

        ☺Messy Sleep - Sleep patterns are devastated due to screen times. People often carry gadgets to the bedroom, and the screen light tends to activate the brain more, making it difficult to sleep.

        ☺Lack of attention - The heavily activated brain now couldn’t stay calm anymore. It loses its medium speed and fastens up making it impossible to focus.

        OCD up - Constantly checking on mobiles creates a compulsive behavior that pushes you to unlock them every now and then. Obsessive thoughts about wanting to check mobile energize the brain which increases anxiety and anxiousness.

 Sometimes we want to get rid of screens, but our job never made it easy. Work these days is not a cakewalk without the internet. Then how to save ourselves from this? Here’s the tip!

          ↠ Turn off the notifications except for those which are important. These tiny alerts pull us towards the screen where we spend a lot of time sidetracking the main purpose.

          ↠ Limit your home screen only to a few important applications. We tend to unlock our phones and tap on an attractive application other than the one needed. Searching is also a great option which throws a question of whether it is really important to open Instagram or not.

         ↠ Never… I say never bring your screen to your bedroom. This will solve half of your sleeping trouble. Let us invest that 15 mins of our time by sharing the gist of your day with your partner. Get an old-fashioned alarm clock, the best alternative for your mobile phone.

           Ultimately, it’s you who should admit having an issue. Try to recognize with which you have an issue. This is the first step to beating the screen addiction. And now you know what your problem is, try to think of a solution other than the mobile phone and you are done!! All it needs is a little self-control and care for your health.
